Question: Thanks for the help,

As I mentioned, I have been playing bout with different IP addressed, I now have the SBS2k3 machine running with static IP and as DHCP server and I can get the computers to talk to each other.

I still can't the the connection wizard to work. I have got Outlook to talk to exchange manually, but nothing else works.

Also, the SBS2k3 no longer seems to be hosting an intranet website and I can't figure out how to sort this. I thought this was setup automatically by the setup program?

I also cannot get the Remote web to work. am I correct in thinking that this should all be corrected by the rel="nofollow"server/connectcomputer wizard? (I can load this page, but keep getting errors - something wrong with the nshelp.dll file? IE keeps crashing when I try and load it)

Thanks for your help
Andrew

Question -
Hello,

I have recently purchaced SBS2003 and I'm running it on an older machine of mine, really to play and see how it works to gain a little more experience.

My setup is as follows:
I have one broadband router which connects to two machines, one running windowsXP and the other sbs2003. I have them both installed and running, but they refuse to talk to each other.

I have tryed allsorts with IP addresses and configs with no luck.

During the SBS setup, I have been told to open IE on WINXP and type in rel="nofollow"server/Connectcomputer (My server is called "server") whenever I do this I get the standard MSN Search. I can get the propper page to load by typing the local IP and the ConnectComputer link works, but I just get a page saying to run the wizard - but it does not startup? I have installed the ActiveX Control, but this made no difference.

Could you please help?
I was wondering if the ActiveX control has not installed properly - can they be removed one installed?

Thanks
Andrew

Answer -
It sounds like the 2003 machine might not be getting an IP? Are you using dhcp for the server or is the server a DHCP server with it's own static IP? Go to a command prompt and type ping server. If it can't find the IP that might be part of your problem. REally a SBS server should have a static IP and have DNS running. It's local area network adapter should point to it's IP for DNS. You would enter the ISPs DNS in the forwarder field of the DNS server. Let me know how that goes.
Answer: This question was in my queue from last year. I am not sure if it is just a duplicate or something. Please let me know if you still need help. Sorry if this is a legit question. I didn't mean to be so late.
