|
The domain Group Policy is above the ou as you might expect but the odd thing is that site is actually the top of the list. As far as conflict resolution it's simple. The computer will follow the last orders given to it. So if the site says go left then domain says right and ou says backward the computer would go backward. But if the ou said "not configured" then it would go right because the next level up is configured to go right. The same is true when you have multiple group policy objects at the same level. (ok so there is not "right" and "left" settings but it's an easy analogy)
Let's say you have 3 GPs linked to some OU. They are listed in order in the gp editor. The top one execute first. Then the next and then last. GP 1 says go left, gp 2 says right and gp3 says "not configured". It's just like site, domain and ou. The first setting is applied, then changed from left to right by the next and gp 3 then executes but it changes nothing because that's how it's configured. The end result here is the computer goes right. So in short, which ever GP gets the last word in is boss. It the GP doesn't give specific orders about a specific setting that is mentioned previously then that order stands. |
