Question: I have a folder on XP system. I want no one else to have permissions to this folder but myself. (i.e. only I can view it & no one else). Anyone know how I can do this?

Also – can I make this folder (for my viewing only) have a password that can be entered – anyway to do this?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Answer: First we need to turn off simple file sharing. open my computer and go to tools -> folder options then click on the view tab then scroll down to the bottom and turn off simple file sharing. It is one of the more pointless things Microsoft has come up with. Then if you go to the folder you want to secure you can right click it and properties. Then click the security tab. Then you can add yourself and make sure you rant yourself all permissions. Then you can click advanced and disable inherited permissions so that you can remove the other users or lessen there permissions.
